Connector limits and errors

Quick answer
Almost every DawBets connector error is a limit or a permission check, not a broken connection. "Rate limit exceeded" clears in seconds, the daily allowance resets at midnight UTC, and subscription, age and data-access messages are fixed on the connect page or by resubscribing. Removing and re-adding the connector in your assistant is almost never the fix.
Two limits, and which one you are hitting
Every tool call is metered twice. There is a daily allowance that resets at midnight UTC and depends on your plan — smallest on the free trial, larger on Plus, largest on Pro — and a short per-minute ceiling that is the same on every plan. Both are counted per DawBets account, not per conversation. The odds calculators, the betting-terms glossary, sportsbook coverage, state availability and plan information are free tools: they meet the per-minute ceiling like everything else but never count against the daily allowance.
Neither is easy to reach. Your assistant answers a single question by firing off many tool calls at once, so one prompt like "find me the best NBA player props tonight" can spend a couple of dozen calls in a few seconds — and the per-minute ceiling is deliberately set well above that. Each limit message names the exact figure it enforced, and the daily one names the exact reset time — read the message rather than counting yourself, because both numbers are tuned on the server and change.
"Rate limit exceeded"
That is the per-minute ceiling — a burst of calls arriving faster than the connector accepts them. The error tells you how many seconds to wait; wait that long and ask again. Nothing is wrong with your account and no reconnection is needed.
A burst does not cost you the day
The per-minute check runs before the daily counter, so a call that trips the ceiling is never charged against your daily allowance.
"Daily tool-call limit reached"
You have spent your plan's allowance for the day. The message states the exact reset instant, which is always midnight UTC, and this one is terminal until then — retrying earlier will fail, and your assistant is told so it stops trying.
On the trial or on Plus, the same message says what a bigger plan buys and links to the pricing page. On Pro no upgrade is offered, because there is nothing above it. Note that the trial unlocks Pro-level tools but is metered on the smallest allowance on purpose — see How your free Pro trial works.
Access messages, and what each one means
These four read like a broken integration and are usually a two-minute fix. None of them disconnects anything: DawBets refuses one tool call at a time, in words your assistant reads back to you, rather than failing the sign-in.
| What it says | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "This tool requires a DawBets Plus or Pro subscription" | Your account is on Free, or a paid plan or trial has lapsed. The free tools — calculators, glossary, coverage, plans — keep answering; pricing and account tools do not. | Subscribe or resubscribe — the pricing page has current plans. The connector already saved in your assistant starts working again immediately. |
| "You must confirm you are 21+" | There is no current age confirmation on file — either it was never ticked, or we changed the wording, which resets everyone's. | Tick the Age confirmation card on the connect page, then retry. |
| "DawBets updated what the connector can access" | We widened the data-access list — most recently in September 2026, when the connector gained the ability to correct and settle bets, change preferences and alert settings, save presets, share bets and post ideas. Your assistant cannot re-show its consent screen for a connection that already exists, so we ask here instead. | Approve the Data access card on the connect page, then retry. The connector stays connected throughout. |
| "The DawBets connector is temporarily unavailable" | A problem on our side. The message says outright that this is not an account or subscription issue. | Wait and try again. There is nothing to buy, approve or change. |
The exact wording depends on which assistant asked
Some assistants publish rules that stop a connector from showing subscription plans or prices, so on those the same refusal arrives in shorter words — it names what is not available on the plan your account is currently on (the whole tool, or just the part of it that is gated, such as same-game parlay pricing) and points you at Settings instead of the pricing page. The reason and the fix are identical; only the sentence differs. Match on the meaning in the table above, not on the exact string.
Deleting the connector is almost never the fix
Every message above is decided per tool call and leaves your connector connected — removing it just makes you redo the sign-in for nothing. The one exception is an authorization failure while you are adding it in the first place.
Messages about one specific question
- "This DawBets account has no saved sportsbooks" — personalized answers filter to the books saved on your DawBets account instead of quietly showing you the whole market, so an empty list returns nothing. Pick your books in Settings, or name a sportsbook in the question.
- "Same-game parlay analysis requires a DawBets Pro subscription" — two or more legs from the same game need Pro. Pro is where they are priced at all: the slip check still combines the legs as though they were independent, and says so in its answer, while the correlation-aware price comes from same-game parlay pricing (how we price a same-game parlay). Straight bets and cross-game parlays are analyzed on Plus, so splitting the slip works.
- "Account tools are not yet available on the DawBets connector" or "Writing from the DawBets connector is not enabled yet" — the first covers every tool that reads your own account, the second every tool that writes to it (logging, correcting, settling or removing a bet, preferences, alert settings, presets, share links, ideas and feedback). Both families are switched on today, and each sits behind a switch that fails closed, so either message means the switch is temporarily off or we could not read it. Nothing is wrong with your account, market and calculator tools keep working, and you can make the change yourself at My Bets or Settings.
- "The boost builder requires a DawBets Pro subscription" — the boost builder and the same-game pricing tools are Pro on every surface, the connector included.
Authorization fails while adding the connector
This is the one failure on this page that is not a limit or a permission check, and the one time removing the connector is right — the usual cause is a stale authorization request from a half-finished attempt. Connect DawBets to Claude has the retry.
The age gate is not a formality
The connector is 21+ only and answers with computed pricing information, not betting advice — and no tool it exposes can place, fund or settle a wager at a sportsbook; “settle” on the connector only records a result in your own DawBets history. An edge is not income. If betting has stopped being fun, read our responsible-gambling resources, or call or text 1-800-522-4700.
Common questions
When does my daily limit reset?
At midnight UTC. The error message itself states the exact reset time, so you do not have to work it out — and retrying before then fails rather than queueing.
Why did I hit a rate limit after only one question?
Your assistant fans a single question out into many tool calls that run at once, so the per-minute ceiling can trip in the middle of one answer. Wait the seconds the message names and ask again.
Does a rate-limited call use up my daily allowance?
No. The per-minute check runs before the daily counter, so a call refused for bursting is never charged to your day.
My connector stopped working after I canceled. Do I re-add it?
No. Connector access follows your subscription, and the refusal happens per tool call rather than by disconnecting you. Resubscribe to Plus or Pro and the saved connector works again immediately.
My assistant still lists the connector but says I need Plus or Pro. Is it broken?
No — that is working as designed. DawBets denies each tool call in-band so your assistant can read you the reason, instead of returning a sign-in failure that would make it loop on re-authorizing.
